Dante seems alienated or even sheltered from his own family’s past. Do you think this was intentional on his father’s part? Or do you think Dante leaving when he did prevented the prince from discovering more?
Ashton’s legend seems to precede him and shadow Dante’s journey in this book. Do you think this is a typical big brother syndrome since the story is told from Dante’s point of view? Or do you think Ashton has impacted the world greatly before Dante’s first real attempt to leave Glensdale?
There are a few bathhouse scenes throughout the novel, each with their own intent and experiences. Do you think the author did this intentionally? Does this help the reader see a transition in character development for Dante? What about John?
Red Wine’s real identity was very hushed. Do you think this is due to her past with Fallen Arbor and Ashton? Or part of her new role as the Master Assassin for the Guild?
Dante is learning to fight again, though this time more like Ashton. Do you think if he had not disguised himself as Ashton that events would have unfolded the same way?
There were far more connections with the Church and Fallen Arbor than Dante expected. Do you think John suspected something during his time there? Do you think Fallen Arbor would have been able to achieve their goals without the Church?
Princess Sonja’s return was a mixed bag. Returning her to Captiva City didn’t mean her safety either, and she seemed to know this. Do you think it is vital for Grandemere’s future for her to have returned so soon?
Dante lost himself more than once. His cravings for John become stronger and more dangerous when he’s been horribly injured. Do you think he can control himself in the future? Is it possible that it’s more about his mental state than his actual carnal cravings for blood?
John confesses it all. When we think no more vows could be broken down, we get a wonderful raw exchange in the library. Do you believe his confession? How do you feel about his choices? Did he really want to be a priest at all? Or do you believe his was more to be Grandemere’s savior and hero?
The soul weapon has been found, its identity known. What is the significance of this, and how do you feel this will impact Dante as a person as he carries this weight moving forward?
