Snowed In with a Bigfoot, a Yeti, & a Werewolf
by Honey Cummings
Wilma went to break the hug, but Lucan tensed his arms. His heart fluttered and the smell of peaches in the air made her shudder.
“Lucan, let’s at least get somewhere other than the B.O.O.T. lodge before we do that.” Wilma pushed again and this time he let go, his arms dropping at his sides. “Thank you.”
She began digging through what little was in her luggage. Most of it was her unmentionables, some pajama shorts, and no signs of shirt or even a bra. Nothing. With her outfit lost to the roaring fans, there was no way she could sneak out half-naked and through the snow. Scoffing, she shimmied on a pair of panties and shorts. It was better than nothing. Lucan’s hand rode up her thigh, under the hem of the shorts before she smacked him away.
“Stop it,” she warned. “This is your fault.”
“We can burrito you back in the blanket for the rest of the walk.” Lucan seemed unsure. “Where is the blanket?”
“A mess, wet from the snow and abandoned in the showers.” Wilma sighed, hands on her hips as she looked at her leftover clothes as if by some miracle a shirt would appear. “I guess I’m wearing this robe out.”
“I like the sound of that.” Lucan’s voice carried the smile he surely wore from behind her.
She shoved everything into the suitcase and zipped it up. Picking it up, she pivoted and shoved it into Lucan’s arms pushing him back a few steps. Tugging on the robe straps, she tightened their hold for good measure. It was a lousy shield against her own desires stirring even after everything that had unfolded moments ago. She felt feral and hot, but she pushed the sensations down and forced them silent.
“Are you really going to make me carry this to the ski lodge?” Lucan whined following her back out of the room. “It’s half empty, you don’t even have a shirt in here.”
“I noticed because you didn’t put anything back in it.” Wilma tossed her hands in the air. “So now I have a robe for a shirt!”
Tenzin turned, eyes dipping over her. “And rather lacking for a walk in the snowstorm.”
“I know,” she drawled, earning a chuckle from the Ice King.
Boone scratched his jaw, eyes narrowing at her. “Ladybug, these might be baggy, but it's better than this.” Boone marched to a row of lockers where he put the combination into one and popped it open. “But at least these will keep you warm and,” Boone pulled out a sweatshirt and sweatpants with B.O.O.T. written across it, “at least it has a top.”
Wilma rushed up gathering them into her arms. “You’re the best, Boone!”
Before anyone could react, she was back in the spa room. Pulling the robe off, she picked up the sweatshirt. It smelled like Boone. That piney, fresh, clean smell that just shouted Irish Spring. She inhaled deep, taking it in. Baulking, one fact struck her. When she had a moment, she would ask about it. Each monster had a scent, but was it their selection of hygiene products making it so pungent or was this also part of the bond? Not peachy smells. It was clear what that meant at the rate of what happened on the stump. The moments where there were no feelings of lustfulness.
Have I mistaken it for soap or cologne?
Sniffing the sweatshirt again, she murmured to herself, “Boone is Irish Spring, Tenzin smells like The One by Dolce&Gabbana, and Lucan, Lucan smells like a Christmas tree?”
Blinking she began to pull the sweatshirt over her head. The door opened. She tangled in the shirt, unable to see. The door shut, the lock clicking. Her arms and hands stuck, elbows locked in some unknown pockets that didn’t exist seconds before. The bad luck rearing its ugly head adding to her frustration and feeding her fury.
“Dammit Lucan–” The sweatshirt was yoked down and her head popped out the neckhole. “Tenzin?!”
“You are the worst Ice Queen ever.” A growl rolled from him, those icy blue eyes filled with jealousy. “Not only were you in here alone with him, but you mistook me for him.”
Wilma flatpanned. “I was trapped in Boone’s sweater, thank you very much. I expect this out of him, but you? Not so much.”
Tenzin plucked the fabric, his scowl deepening. “You smell like Boone, run in here alone with Lucan, and yet cast the most seductive jealous glare at your friend for gawking at what is rightfully yours.” Tenzin tilted her head up with a single finger against her chin to make sure she didn’t drop her gaze. “It was only fair that I return the romantic gesture. I too feel very jealous right now.”
“And what do you intend to do about it,” she mused.
Tenzin flashed a smile and now it was Wilma who smelled peaches before his own nostrils flared. “I was going to ask you to kiss me and make me feel better,” he teased.
His hand fell away and she dipped her eyes over his naked body, taking in every detail of the dark planes and curves that seemed ethereal in the dark room as his runes glittered and glowed. Some part of her wondered if the snowflake on her forehead was doing the same at this very moment. She let her fingers trail over him, from the top of his shoulders before spilling over his collarbone and down the center of his body as he had done for her. A happy grunt escaped him as she stopped just below his navel.
“What the fuck am I thinking?” Wilma snatched her hand away, turning on her heel away from the man candy. “Dammit, we just did this!”
Tenzin laughed, grabbing a fistful of the back of the sweatshirt and lurched her backward into him. His arms wrapped around her. She struggled. Wiggling and fighting against the immovable strength of the yeti pretending to be a man. After a long moment she calmed down and stood still. She panted from her efforts. He inhaled her scent, nuzzling her neck.
“What did you and Lucan talk about?” Tenzin sighed before adding, “Since nothing happened, after all.”
Wilma’s mind spiralled. So much had been revealed, but was it her place to say anything at all. His family’s jaded past and it all led to her being in danger if she ever dared to stray too far from either Boone or Tenzin. Her heart raced. His body tensed.
What should I say? Lucan’s not just the Lost Alpha King, but the only survivor of his family after his murderous brother killed his family and now knows where he is? Wait.
“Ski lodge,” she blurted.
“Ski lodge,” he repeated.
“I want to go to the ski lodge now,” she demanded.
“Oh, so commanding,” he teased, stifling a laugh as he let her go. “By car or by foot?”
Wilma turned and blinked at him. “What do you mean by car?”
“Well,” Tenzin unlocked and opened the door for her, motioning for her to exit first. “We walked far enough that I could summon a car to come get us from here.”
“Wait. Wait.” Wilma furrowed her brow, whispering to Tenzin at the door so Mille couldn’t hear them. “I thought this place was magically hidden?”
“It is. For hikers on foot, Ms. Hart.” Tenzin slid his gaze to Mille, before whispering, “And remember, she’s been charmed so she can’t see Lucan’s ears or the fact there were shifted animal humanoids in the lodge. Stop being strange or it may break the spell.”
“Oh.” Wilma looked across the locker room where Lucan, Boone, and Mille were chatting happily with one another. “Oh, so she can’t see because… wait.” She smacked Tenzin’s chest. “Did you use magic on my friend?”
“No.” Tenzin pulled her hand off him. “And if you keep touching me like that, we will be doing more in this room.”
Wilma rushed forward, face red. Tenzin chuckled behind her with an expression that said he was clearly amused. She kept going, towards the door. Bypassing everyone, she cut between them. At this point, Wilma was ready to leave. To escape the madness of the B.O.O.T. lodge now. Boone caught her arm. Stopping, she gave him a bewildered look.
“Slow down, ladybug,” he warned with a serious gaze. “They’re all still out there and a few more levels drunker than when we first cut through that crowd.”
“Shit.” Wilma paled, searching the air for an answer of some kind. “I have to walk back through there?”
“We already called for a car since the storm settled down,” offered Boone, casting an appreciative nod to Tenzin. “No more walking and no more snow to threaten to take you from us. Hope that’s ok with you, ladybug.”
“No, the car part I am totally relieved to know we are on the same note on that.” She narrowed her eyes at Tenzin who smirked with a wink. “But how are we going to get out of here? Is there not a back door to this place?”
“Sorry, that’s on the other side as part of the administration offices.” Skye startled them before she pointed at Lucan. “And you. I’m going to kill you.” She pulled up her phone to a recent trending post on BOOT-Town Uncensored group chat. “That’s me! On the ground! Worse fucking picture they could have posted out of the pictures they took!” Sliding her finger up, the amount of comments, snarky and otherwise, seemed endless. “YOU did that to me! You owe me, Lucan!”
Lucan threw up his hands. “I didn’t take the picture this time!”
“This time?” Mille arched a brow before shaking her head. “So handsome, yet leaving a girl wanting so much more. Bless him.”
“We’ll settle this later.” Skye narrowed her eyes at Lucan and snorted.
“You have no idea.” Wilma dragged a hand over my face. “Ok. Then how are we doing this.”
“I’ll lead us out,” declared Boone.
“And we’ll be on either side of you with Skye and Mille following close behind.” Tenzin came closer and Lucan was quick to fall into line on my other side. “Just, don’t let your eyes wander.”
Wilma’s face went red.
“I don’t think he was talking about his assets, hun.” Mille chuckled, even from behind the red color in Wilma’s ears, a knowing tell. “I think he means at the people since they all saw–”
“Got it!” Wilma half-shouted. “Let’s just go, please.”
Boone pushed out the door and she reached out. He slowed his steps as she reached out to hold on to a wrist. He cupped his fingers with hers, tugging her behind him gently. They went back down the hallway and through the doors. Roars, cheers, whistles erupted from the crowd. Wilma caught a glimpse of the mating grounds but darted her eyes back to the center of Boone’s back. Now another couple were … copulating on the stump where she had her first foursome. Well, and her first public fucking. A flash of red snagged her peripheral. She couldn’t stop herself from looking at what hung on the antlers of a humanoid deer shifter. Her eyes went huge. Anger filled her.
Forget being embarrassed!
“Is that my fucking bra–” Tenzin clamped a hand over her mouth and she shrieked.
“I said keep your eyes down,” his voice sounded dangerous. “I don’t like it either.”
“Me neither.” Lucan leaned in closer as Tenzin let his hand fall away.
Wilma looked to where at another table there was loud laughter over a poker game. A snake shifter stood, scales across his skin as he held up her leggings in triumph. Clearly winning her fucking pants in a game of fucking poker. Her temper rose. Searching the packed room as they continued to zigzag between the groups. The room smelled of fried food and beer, more so now than during their victory lap. She covered her nose and mouth with the other hand, the sweatshirt masking the world with Boone’s scent. Strangely, it calmed her as she finally found her shirt. There in the distance she could see a group of men with ears similar to Lucan.
“Why didn’t you get my clothes from them?” She leaned to whisper to Lucan who also had his eyes on the pack of werewolves. “I mean, they are fucking betting with my shit and wearing it like it’s a trophy of some kind.”
“Luna, you are the Queen of Three and to have an article of clothing from when you were bestowed all three crowns at the mating grounds is … a great honor to these fools.” He swallowed, his expression shifting and it took her back to the confession he had made. “But you see, they are not from here.” He nodded to the pack sniffing her sweater who turned to face them in one unison motion. “And I know where they hail from.”
A growl rolled from Lucan and Wilma swore she could see the hairs on his head bristle. Lucan took a step in their direction, but Tenzin landed a heavy hand on his shoulder. With one nudge he brought Lucan back in place.
“You’re mad about a pack of mutts yet did nothing over the deer wearing her panties on his head.” Tenzin grunted.
“Fuck them.” Lucan tore his stare from them and maneuvered closer to her.
Tenzin sighed, the sound of it filled with annoyance. “She’ll have plenty of clothes once we make it to the ski lodge.” A groan escaped him. “LeAnne is going to kill me.”
Before Wilma could ask another question, they were met with the cold air. Night had fallen. Exhaling, her breath floated in the air. Before them was a black SUV. Boone opened the back door and lifted her into the vehicle. It was redesigned to be more of a limo style, and she flopped down in the furthest seat. Boone climbed in and slid her to the center with a yelp.
“Was that necessary?” she reeled.
Boone snort-laughed at her but leaned back into the stolen seat at the window.
Lucan flopped onto her other side, sandwiching her between the two. Part of her wanted to jab her elbows into each bratty brute, but she was tired. Dreadfully exhausted and the warmth radiating from them both made her relax. Mille slid in and Tenzin peered in. That jealous look crossing his facial features made the corner of Wilma’s mouth rise in amusement.
“I’ll be upfront if you need me,” he announced.
Wilma blinked. “You’re not sitting back here? With us?”
Tenzin shot a quick look at Mille before looking at Wilma with an arched brow. “I think it’s safer for me to be upfront, alone, and make a few calls to arrange for our arrival.”
Wilma’s eyes went wide before she shot them down to her lap in guilt. “S-sounds good.”
The door shut and before long the car began moving. It was still moving, but unlike her car, the SUV seemed to handle the down and up slopes effortlessly.
“You are so lucky, Wilma.” Mille shook her head in disbelief from where she sat across the way staring at the sight of Wilma between two still very naked lumbersexuals. “So fucking lucky.”
Lucan leaned in and whispered, “She’s jealous because you’ve got the best seat in the house, moonshine.”
Wilma’s thoughts slowed and she realized what Mille was looking at. Her friend in baggy, oversized sweats sitting in the center of—Boone pulled her into him. The classic cuddle bug working his magic. Rubbing her arm, she sighed and let the tension melt.
“I think a nap is in order. It’s a bit of a drive since we have to go down one side of the mountain and up the other. Get some sleep.” Boone’s offer and warmth was more than convincing.
I can’t tell if Tenzin likes it or hates it when I get jealous, but when he gets jealous? I think I like it.
